Saddar is a neighbourhood in Karachi, Pakistan, known for being the central business district of the city. The word "Saddar" comes from Arabic and means chest, center, or main, hence it is the central or main bazaar. Saddar is home to many colonial-era buildings, as it was developed during the British-era rule in Karachi. Empress Market, located in Saddar, is a popular shopping area that sells a variety of commodities ranging from condiments, fruit, vegetables and meat to stationery material, textiles and pets. Karachi is divided into seven districts, and Saddar is located in Karachi Central District.
