Kuromi is a Sanrio character introduced in 2005. She is a black cat with a pink bow who is the main protagonist in the series. Her arch-nemesis is My Melody, also known as My Melo. Kuromi is a tomboy, but behind her tough appearance, she is actually very girly. She enjoys writing in her diary and reading romance novels. It is revealed in Hello Kitty and Friends Supercute Adventures that Kuromi has a crush on Badtz-Maru. She is able to travel between the human world and the spirit world, wielding a magical artifact called the Melody Key. She is not officially a part of the Hello Kitty universe. Some consider her to be a perky goth with a punky yet cute and cheeky personality.
