Streamlit is an open-source app framework that enables Machine Learning and Data Science teams to create beautiful web apps in minutes. It is a Python-based library specifically designed for machine learning engineers. Streamlit lets you turn data scripts into shareable web apps in minutes, not weeks. It is all Python, open-source, and free! In comparison to Flask, for relatively simple apps, Streamlit would suffice. However, if the user requires a more secure full-fledged app, Flask would be the better option. Streamlit components have two parts, a frontend that gets rendered in Streamlit apps via an iframe tag and a Python API that Streamlit client apps use to instantiate the frontend and communicate with it. Overall, Streamlit is an excellent option for creating quick data apps without having to spend weeks on the app's development.
React Icons is a library for React that allows the easy inclusion of popular icons into projects using SVG formatted icons. It utilizes ES6 imports which allows developers to include only the icons needed for their specific project instead of including an entire icon set. The React Icons Kit also provides basic usage and importing instructions for developers to start using the library.
Supabase is an open source alternative to Firebase that offers a Postgres database, authentication, instant APIs, edge functions, real-time subscriptions, and storage. It allows developers to create a dedicated Postgres database with just a few clicks and provides a built-in SQL editor and data browser. It is trusted by millions of developers and is one of the world's most scalable databases for those who want to leverage better data integrity, more complex queries, and full-text search. Supabase is a better option than Firestore for those who want to use Postgres and the same SDK on the client and server.
OPNsense is an open source, FreeBSD-based firewall and routing software developed by Deciso, launched in January 2015 as a fork of pfSense. It offers features such as intrusion detection, application control, web filtering, and anti-virus. It includes most of the features available in expensive commercial firewalls, and more in many cases. It is easy to configure and use and has valuable features such as reporting, the Sensei plugin, and firewall capabilities. OPNsense is a free, open-source solution ready to protect networks from intrusion. It offers everything needed to secure a network and provides data center security appliances that now come with a dual power supply and SFP28. In comparison to pfSense's user interface, OPNsense is easier to use and more logical.
Keycloak is an open-source identity and access management solution that enables single sign-on and is aimed at modern applications and services. Flathub is an app store and build service for Linux that aims to be the place to get and distribute apps for Linux. It is powered by Flatpak, which allows Flathub apps to run on almost any Linux distribution. Flathub offers a growing collection of Flatpak applications that can be easily installed on any Linux distribution. It is an independent project developed by a group of volunteers. Flatpak is the tool used to install applications, and Flathub is a repository that distributes the applications to Flatpak users. Flathub is one of many online repositories (called “remotes” in Flatpak) that can be queried for software to download and install in Flatpak. As with all software, users should be vigilant when using non-free software. Flatpak limits access to system resources, but it cannot cover every case where software may try to carry out unethical activities (phishing and so on, for example). Flathub may offer paid-for software, and it is being proposed as an app store for Linux by the GNOME and KDE organizations. Snaps are considered easier to maintain/build compared to Flatpak packages, but with Flathub as Flatpak's store, maintainers receive help from various developers to test and improve the Flatpaks.
