Mityana is a town in the Central Region of Uganda and serves as the main municipal, administrative, and commercial center of Mityana District. The district was created in 2005, incorporating Mityana and Busujju counties. Mityana is known for its agricultural activities, with crops like sweet potatoes, beans, cassava, maize, bananas, groundnuts, onions, cabbage, coffee, and tea being grown there. The district has several sub-counties, including Ssekanyonyi, Namungo, Bulera, Kikandwa, Butayunja, Kakindu, Maanyi, Kalangaalo, Bbanda, and Malangala. The town itself is divided into three divisions: Central, Busimbi, and Ttamu. The distance between Mityana and Kampala, the capital of Uganda, is approximately 63 km. Mityana is also a popular tourist destination, with recommended hotels such as Wamala Lake View Hotel, Makanhill Resort Hotel, New Highway Hotel, and Vine Hotel.
