Shahada is the Islamic declaration of faith in one God (Allah) and His messenger, Muhammad. It is considered the first of the Five Pillars of Islam. The Shahada is recited by Muslims as a testimony of their faith and acceptance of Islam. It can be recited alone, but two adult Muslim witnesses are needed. The full Shahada in Arabic is "لا إله إلا الله محمد رسول الله" (lā ʾilāha ʾillā-llāh, muḥammadun rasūlu-llāh). The Shahada is a simple yet profound statement that expresses a Muslim's complete acceptance and commitment to Islam.
