Wait a minute...
Instagram came into our lives in 2010 and ever since then it has become the talk of the town through its innovative new features such as Instagram stories, shopping, Instagram reels, and one other feature we are all obsessed with; Instagram Music!
No wonder it has become one of the most popular social media platforms used by millions of users all across the world. I mean what’s better than having a single account where you can share your pictures, stories, and more with your followers, whether you have a private or public account? If you’re an influencer, blogger, entrepreneur, or just someone with a public account, not only can you share posts on your Instagram profile but you can also engage with a large audience at one time.
However, with so much evolution in content now, the word of the town is that some users don't find it appealing anymore. In fact, they get tired at one point which calls for an INSTAGRAM BREAK! In fact, I sometimes get very annoyed by the ADs and influencer content that keeps on shoving into my feed. To avoid this mess, some people already keep their profile private, follow certain people, and only post once or twice a week. But what most of the users do is that they deactivate their accounts to get a break from people, work, and social media as a whole.
I mean, come on, not everybody has to love Instagram. For many reasons, some people regret the time they spend on their Instagram activity and promise themselves to spend fewer hours on their phones for their own mental health. Some people even have uncomfortable experiences due to fake accounts and creepy stalkers. Some people simply get tired of Instagramming and discover other worthwhile activities to engage in.
This is why Instagram allows you the option of deactivating your account and getting back to the platform whenever you feel like it. You can at any time quit using the platform leaving your social media friends and followers in the dark about your whereabouts. Sounds crazy, we know!
However, if you’re someone who has already been in such a situation and has a deactivated account but now wants to get back to the world of Instagram and has no idea how to, don’t worry! Although reactivating your Instagram account is pretty easy but you’re not alone. This is a question asked by many, and I am here to give you your dream guide on how to get back the hold of your account.
So what are you waiting for? Let’s dive in!
Reactivate Your Deactivated Instagram Account
After deactivating your account, there always comes a time when you change your mind to end this Insta-break. Perhaps you originally deactivated it because you were too busy to interact with your followers and check on Instagram posts, and now you finally have some free time for yourself.
However, remember that you can only reactivate if you deactivated your account, not deleted it. Because if you have deleted then unfortunately you will need to register a new account with a new username and password. Oops!
But if you’ve just deactivated then when you wish to reactivate your account, everything will be exactly as it was before you deactivated it. Do you know what is even better news? Reactivation is a one-step process: Just Log in!
Here’s what you need to do.
Step 1: On your iPhone or Android's home screen, locate and tap on the Instagram icon to launch the app.
Step 2: Enter the username and password for the account you want to reactivate on the login screen.
Step 3: Click Login as you would normally and you'll be brought to your feed and your account will have been restored to normal. Taadaa!
The login will automatically reactivate your account. Yay! Guess what? You're done.
However, don't forget that Instagram suggests waiting a minimum of 24 hours after deactivating your Instagram account to reactivate it, as the deactivation process takes around a day to complete.
You should also be aware that while accounts that have been temporarily deactivated on Instagram can be easily reactivated, the same cannot be said for accounts that have been deleted.
Make sure you merely disable your account rather than completely delete it if you intend to return to Instagram because the deletion process is irreversible and permanent. You'll need to create a new account since that is gone. Ouch!
However, thanks to the application, says that you can use the same email address as the one you used to create your old account. Although, you just might not be able to use the same username.
Reactivating a Disabled Account
Sometimes you don’t deactivate, but your account gets disabled. Instagram says and I quote “Under our existing policy, we disable accounts that have a certain percentage of violating content. We are now rolling out a new policy where, in addition to removing accounts with a certain percentage of violating content, we will also remove accounts with a certain number of violations within a window of time.”
So what can you do in this case? Let’s see!
Step 1: Know if Your Account Is Disabled
First of all, when you attempt to log in, you'll get a notification letting you that your Instagram account has been disabled.
Step 1: Try opening the Instagram app and entering your login information again. After clicking login, if you receive a notification that reads "Your account has been disabled" or anything similar, Instagram has disabled your account because you violated the Terms of Use.
However remember that if you only get an error message, such as "Incorrect password or username," Instagram hasn't shut off your account. So for a quick fix, try troubleshooting.
Step 2: Open the Instagram Appeal Form
Open the web browser on your computer and type https://help.instagram.com/contact/606967319425038. Use this form to request Instagram to provide you access to your account.
Step 3: Enter your Name
Although everyone knows how to fill out the form, let us guide you in detail. So basically, enter your first and last name exactly as they appear on your Instagram account in the "Full name" text box at the top of the page.
Step 4: Now enter your Username
Again, enter the username exactly as it was.
Step 5: Enter Phone number & Email address
Here you need to provide your phone number and email address. Enter them in the corresponding text fields for "Your email address" and "Your phone number."
Step 6: Enter the Appeal Request
Enter a brief message stating why you believe your account should not be deactivated in the last text box on the page. Keep in mind the following tips when you write your appeal:
- Describe how your account was disabled and why you think it was a mistake.
- Avoid apologizing since doing so suggests that you did something wrong.
- Never use harsh language; instead, keep your tone friendly.
- As you draw to a close, say "Thank you!"
Step 7: Finally, click send!
At the bottom of the page is a blue button. By doing this, you'll send Instagram a request to reinstate your account; if they decide to do so, you'll receive a notification and be able to log in.
